EUROPEAN INTERBALKAN MEDICAL CENTER IN THESSALONIKI 
Project's Description

The project involves a building extension of the existing hospital complex. The new main building consists of a basement, a ground floor and 4 more storeys above it. The total area, including the basement is approximately 10.400 m2. The use, supplementary to that of the whole complex, is medical offices, examination rooms, as well as tumor department and an artificial kidney Unit.

The framing system of the building is made of reinforced concrete. A 1m deep raft foundation slab, transfers gravity and seismic loads to the ground. The basement and ground floor roof consists of conventional solid slabs supported on beams; The latter frame into columns and shear walls. On the contrary, the floors above are solid flat slabs, 35 cm thick, without drop panels, in order to facilitate MEP crossings. Elevator and stair cores have been placed in targeted positions along the perimeter, in order to achieve elastic symmetry.
