STEEL SLIDING FORMWORK FOR CONCRETING THE UPSTREAM SIDE COVER OF THE "KORIS GEFIRI" EMBANKMENT DAM IN XIOS ISLAND
Project's Description
For this interesting project we are asked to design a sliding truss steel formwork that will be used for concreting a 30cm thick protective reinforced concrete slab; the latter will cover the upstream side of a 36m embankment dam, with a 1:0.8 (height:width) inclination. The first design task is to obtain the hydrostatic pressure distribution; this pressure is counterbalanced by the selfweight of the precast concrete working level slab. The 10m long truss slides along 2 steel ][ section tracks which are temporarily fixed into the embankment, via 30cm cement spacers. The movement is accomplished via a remote control operated hydraulic system, located in the middle of the structure.
