Project's Description

The project is situated on the local Volissos Parparia road, in the municipality of Amani, Chios, on a level II seismic risk zone (α=0,24). The existing two-storey building is made of stone, with 45-60cm thick masonry walls, timber roof and has a 60m2 plan. The architectural solution suggested the repair of the existing building and the addition of another 120m² to the typical plan of each storey.

The structural interventions on the existing building were the following: addition of single or double sided sprayed concrete jackets, repair of large cracks, creation of openings on the existing masonry, replacement of the roof, etc.

The new section was designed with perimetrical confined masonry and intermediate beams - column of reinforced concrete frames with pitched timber roof without tie rods.
