Project's Description
The design concerns the renovation of the existing building of the old Xenia hotel in Arta. The building was designed by architect George Zervos, is located at the city's castle and had been constructed with a building permit of 1959. It is a complex, with a total area of ~2600 m2, of three structurally independent reinforced concrete buildings, which are functionally connected to each other.
Our scope included the structural rehabilitation and strengthening of the existing buildings, due to their foreseen future use as a municipal library, art and technology workshops, a municipal conservatory,a multi-purpose hall and a cafeteria-restaurant, according to the architectural proposal.
Briefly, our scope included the following:
-Exploratory works brief, in accordance with the provisions of the KAN.EPE.
-Structural evaluation of the buildings, as redesigned by the architectural proposal, according to the KAN.EPE. and the Eurocodes
-Design of a new reinforced concrete raft slab foundation and its connection with the existing footings
-Detailed strengthening design according to the KAN.EPE. and the Eurocodes
-Structural design of new steel staircases and elevator.
